Resorts runs real money casino games in New Jersey only. The brand belongs to the oldest casino in Atlantic City, but the app is no longer run by the people whose name is on it.

Boyd Gaming bought the online business in 2024. That is the single most useful thing to understand about this app, and almost nobody tells you.

I cannot hold an account at a US casino. What follows comes from the New Jersey regulator’s permit list, the state’s own company filings, the Google Play listing and reporting on the sale, all checked on 25 August 2026.

Why the ownership matters

Resorts Casino Hotel opened in 1978 as the first legal casino outside Nevada. The online business, Resorts Digital, was a separate concern, and in September 2024 Boyd Interactive bought it.

That purchase covered two brands, ResortsCasino.com and MoheganSunCasino.com. Both continue to run on the gaming licences held by Resorts, even though Boyd owns the businesses.

What that means in practice

The developer on the app listing is Boyd Gaming, not Resorts. Boyd Gaming is who actually runs it
Mohegan Sun in New Jersey is the same owner. If you are comparing the two, you are comparing two products from one company
The licence still sits with the Atlantic City property, so the regulatory protection is unchanged
Resorts the hotel still partners with other operators, including DraftKings, so the Resorts name appears in more than one place online

Who holds the licence

The New Jersey permit list gives NJIGP 25-008 to DGMB Casino, LLC. That name will mean nothing to you, and it is worth spelling out, because it is not obviously Resorts.

DGMB Casino, LLC is the company that operates Resorts Casino Hotel. The state’s own quarterly financial filings for the property are published under the DGMB name, and a federal settlement agreement names the company as DGMB Casino, LLC doing business as Resorts Casino Hotel. So the permit is real and it belongs to Resorts.

The welcome offer

The app listing says you can claim a welcome bonus with no deposit required. That is unusual in the American market, where nearly every welcome offer wants your money first.

What it does not say is how much, what the wagering is, or how long you have. Resorts does not publish those figures anywhere I could read, and their own website would not load its content for me at all.

So here is the honest position. A no deposit offer exists and the operator advertises it on the app store. The amount and the terms are not published openly. Read them in the cashier before you opt in, and treat any specific figure you see on another review site with suspicion unless it names its source.

Why 4.3 is a good result here. Android ratings for casino apps are usually the weak side, because the apps are often web wrappers. Tropicana does not even list on Google Play. Resorts sitting at 4.3 from 711 reviews puts it in the same range as Borgata at 4.4 and behind Golden Nugget at 4.6, which is respectable company for a much smaller operator.

Worth its own section because both appear on most New Jersey casino lists as separate choices, including mine.

Boyd bought ResortsCasino.com and MoheganSunCasino.com together in September 2024. Both run under Resorts’ licences. The Mohegan Sun New Jersey app on Google Play also lists Boyd Gaming as its developer.

What this means for you. Opening accounts at both gets you two welcome offers, which is fine and legal. What it will not get you is a different casino, and any loyalty you build is unlikely to carry across. Treat them as two doors into one building.
